Usage

Redesca (Enoxaparin Sodium) is a LMWHs injectable anticoagulant drug used primarily to treat and prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary emoblism (PE) including during pregnancy and after a certain type of surgery. It is also used in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and heart attacks. Enoxaparin belongs to the class of drugs known as low molecular weight heparin, a blood thinner. This medication helps keep your blood flowing smoothly by lowering the activity of clotting proteins in the blood. Redesca is given by injection just under the skin or into the vein.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects include bruising, fatigue, fever, mild irritation, pain, redness, and swelling at the injection site.

Seek emergency medical attention if you have any signs of a severe allergic reaction. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Black stools or dark urine;
• Confusion;
• Fainting;
• Numbness or weakness;
• Seizures;
• Severe headache;
• Vision changes;
• Unusual pain or swelling;
• Unusual dizziness

Warnings and Interactions

You should not use Enoxaparin if you are allergic to it or to heparin or pork products. Before you start taking this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history especially if you have:
• Artificial valve;
• Bleeding or blood problems;
• Eye problems such as diabetic retinopathy;
• Eye or brain or spinal cord surgery;
• High blood pressure;
• Kidney or liver disease;
• Spine problems;
• Stomach or intestinal problems

Limit the use of alcohol while taking Redesca because it may increase the risk of stomach bleeding. Be careful with sharp objects like razors, nail cutters to lower the chance of getting cut. Avoid contact sports to lower the chance of getting injured or bruised. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Enoxaparin and other medications such as clopidogrel, apixaban, dabigatran, rivaroxaban, heparin, etc. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
