Product Details

Contrave a combination medication that contains the active ingredients of Bupropion and Naltrexone. Together, they are used to help manage weight for obese or overweight adults with weight-related medication conditions. Bupropion is an antidepressant that has been known to suppress appetite. Where naltrexone is used to block the effects of narcotics or alcohol for patients with addiction problems. It is also known to curb hunger and food cravings. Contrave should be used together with a balanced diet and exercise.

The common side effects of Contrave include: Constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, insomnia, nausea, vomiting.

The more serious side effects may include:

• Changes in mood or behavior:

Weight loss during pregnancy can also harm an unborn baby, even if you are overweight. Talk to your doctor about your weight loss goals and how it will fit into your life after pregnancy.

Some young people can have suicidal thoughts when they first take bupropion. Go in for regular visits and keep your family and caregivers in the loop if you experience any of these symptoms.

Precautions

Be sure to take Contrave exactly as your doctor describes for you. Follow all instructions that come with your medication. Do not crush, chew, or break your tablet. Swallow it whole an do not take more than 2 tablets at the same time. Do not take it with a high-fat meal, as it can make it more likely to bring on a seizure.

If you need to use a narcotic medication for any reason (surgery, pain, etc.), talk to your doctor so you can effectively stop taking Contrave until you no longer need the narcotic.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

Before you start taking Contrave, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you currently take including OTC and herbal medications.

1. What should I do if I miss a dose?
Answer: Do not take extra medication to make up for your missed dose, especially if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. If you still have time before the next dose, take the missed one as soon as you remember. Never take more than 4 tablets in one day.

Answer: No, you should not be taking Contrave when you are pregnant. It is not safe to lose weight while pregnant, as it can harm the unborn infant.
