Product Details

Monoprost (latanoprost) eyedrops are a medication used to treat glaucoma and to lower high eye pressure. Monoprost works by stimulating the prostaglandin receptors in the eye, which results in the increased outflow of aqueous humor, a fluid in the eye that is often the cause of elevated eye pressure and glaucoma. By increasing the outflow and reducing the level of aqueous fluid in the eye, Monoprost can reduce many symptoms caused by high intraocular pressure and right-angle glaucoma. Monoprost may be used alone or in combination with other ophthalmic medications.

Side Effects and Precautions

Stop using the medication and get medical care if you have an allergic reaction. Signs of an allergic reaction may include difficulty breathing, hives (rash on your body), swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat—If you experience any of these symptoms, please call 911 or seek emergency medical care at the nearest emergency room (ER).

Common side effects of Monoprost include puffy eyelids, stinging, burning, or redness of the eyes, blurred vision, the feeling of something in your eye, dry or watery eyes, or cold or flu symptoms. Contact your doctor if you notice more serious side effects such as eye swelling, severe discomfort, crusting, or drainage, increased sensitivity to light, vision changes, or any severe stinging, burning, or irritation.
