Usage

Trelegy (Fluticasone Furoate/Umeclidinium Bromide/Vilanterol Trifenatate) is a prescription inhalation powder that is used for the treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) including chronic bronchitis or emphysema. Fluticasone is a steroid that prevents the release of substances in the body that causes inflammation. Umeclidinium is an anticholinergic. Vilanterol is a bronchodilator. Trelegy Ellipta is a combination medication that decreases inflammation and helps open up the airways. The standard dose of Trelegy Ellipta for the maintenance treatment of COPD is one inhalation once daily. This medication must be used regularly to be effective. Trelegy should not be used to relieve sudden breathing problems and will not replace a rescue inhaler such as Proventil inhaler Canada.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Trelegy Ellipta may include: back pain, changes in taste, cough, diarrhea, gastroenteritis, headache, mouth pain, and sore throat. Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following serious side effects occur:
• Abnormal heart rate;
• Blurred vision;
• Chest pain;
• High blood pressure;
• High Blood Sugar;
• Increased eye pressure;
• Osteoporosis;
• Pneumonia;
• Skin infection;
• Sudden breathing problems;
• Urinary tract infection

Warnings and Interactions

You should not use Trelegy Ellipta if you are allergic to Fluticasone Furoate, Umeclidinium Bromide, Vilanterol Trifenatate, or milk proteins. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor if you have had any of the following medical conditions:

• Any type of bacterial, fungal, or viral infection;
• Diabetes;
• Enlarged prostate, or urination problems;
• Heart disease;
• Glaucoma, or other eye problems;
• Liver disease;
• Osteoporosis;
• Seizures;
• Thyroid disorder;
• Weak immune system

Trelegy Ellipta should not be used for an asthma attack or COPD attack. Trelegy Ellipta does not work fast enough to treat a bronchospasm attack. You should use a fast-acting inhaler for an asthma attack. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, OTC and herbal medications. There may be some drug interactions between Trelegy Ellipta and other medications such as Ketoconazole and other azole antifungals, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, beta-blockers, diuretics, antocholinergics, antiviral medications, conivaptan, nefazodone and macrolide antibiotics. This medication should not be used with other anticholinergic drugs such as Ipratropium, Tiotropium, etc. Trelegy Ellipta should only be used during pregnancy if it is clearly needed. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Rinse your mouth with water and spit out the water without swallowing after using Trelegy.
