Usage

Bi-Peglyte Prep Kit is used in cleansing of the colon as a preparation for colonoscopy in adults. It is a gastrointestinal lavage composed of Bisacodyl/Polyethylene Glycol/Potassium Chloride/Sodium Bicarbonate/Sodium Chloride/Sodium Sulfate. The bisacodyl component of PEG/Electrolytes powder acts as a stimulant laxative directly on the bowel. The entire contents of the kit should be used for the laxation and together the ingredients speed bowel emptying. with electrolytes help maintain the salt balance in this process.

Use Bi-Peglyte Prep Kit exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Taking more medication will not improve your symptoms; rather they may cause poisoning or serious side-effects. Keep using the medication as directed and tell your doctor if your symptoms do not improve.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Bi-Peglyte Prep Kit are nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating, vomiting, thirst, dizziness, and dehydration, diarrhea and excessive stool frequency, and gas. Report any new or worsening symptoms to your doctor.

You may be removing this medication from your gastrointestinal tract by taking the PEG/Electrolytes solution; if you have abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting; if you have a history of electrolyte imbalance or are using diuretics; if you have ulcerative colitis or any other inflammatory bowel disease e.g., Crohn’s disease; if you have difficulty swallowing or have a pronounced gag reflex or are prone to vomiting. Do not use Bi-Peglyte Prep Kit if you have any allergies to this drug or its ingredients or to polyethylene glycol 3350. Before taking Bi-Peglyte Prep Kit, tell your doctor about all medicines you have used within the past 5 weeks. Medications taken by mouth within 2 hours of starting Bi-Peglyte Prep Kit may be flushed from the body and not absorbed. If you are taking medications, speak with your doctor. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or nursing. This medication should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks. If you become pregnant while taking this medication, contact your doctor immediately. If you are a breast-feeding mother and are taking this medication, it may affect your baby. Talk to your doctor about whether you should continue breast-feeding. It is not known if this medication passes into breast milk. The safety and effectiveness of using this medication has not been established for children. Seniors with heart disease and kidney disease should be monitored by their doctor if they take this medication.
