Product Details

Aptiom (Eslicarbazepine) is a prescription medication that is used alone or with other medications to treat partial-onset seizures in adult. This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as anticonvulsants or anti-epileptics. Eslicarbazepine works by decreasing nerve impulses that cause seizures and pain. The recommended starting dose of Eslicarbazepine is 400mg taken once daily.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects may include coordination problems, dizziness, double vision, drowsiness, feeling shaky, feeling tired, headache, nausea and vomiting. The serious side effects may include:
• Blurred/double vision;
• Depression;
• Loss of balance/coordination;
• Rapid/uncontrollable eye movements

You should not take Aptiom if you are allergic to Eslicarbazepine or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical conditions and about all the medications you are currently taking including OTC and herbal medications. You should not start or stop taking Aptiom during pregnancy without your doctor’s advice. Aptiom can the birth control pills less effective. Eslicarbazepine can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. You should not breast-feed while using this medication. This medication should not be given to anyone under 18 years old.
