Normacol Information: Normacol is fibre supplement used in the treatment of constipation, particularly hypotonic or slow transit constipation. Normacol is a bulk laxatives containing Sterculia a natural fibre product. Sterculia is a vegetable gum from the karaya tree. It helps to regulate the passage of food through the gut in people with certain long-term bowel. It also stimulates the muscular movement of gut which helps to move stools through intestines. Normacol will start to have effects within 12 hours.
Normacol should be taken twice daily following breakfast and the evening meal. The granules are swallowed whole with 1-2 large glasses of water.
The most common side effects of Normacol are:
• Abdominal distension
• Obstruction (if inadequate fluids are taken)
• Wind (flatulence)
