Relenza Diskhaler (Zanamivir) is a prescription medication used to treat acute and uncomplicated respiratory infections (flu) caused by influenza virus A and B. Zanamivir is also used to reduce the chance of getting the flu in community and household settings. The active ingredient in Relenza Diskhaler is Zanamivir. Zanamivir belongs to a group of medicines called neuraminidase inhibitors. It works by inhibiting viral neuraminidases. As a result, it stops the release of the virus from cells and prevents it from spreading inside the affected body of the host (the respiratory tract).
