Cetirizine allergy medicine is an antihistamine used to treat both seasonal and perennial allergy symptoms such as watery eyes, runny nose (rhinitis), itching eyes, and sneezing. Cetirizine is also used to treat hives. Cetirizine for allergy control. Cetirizine should be taken once daily.
Zyrtec Side Effects:
Cetirizine side effects, that may go away during Cetirizine treatment, include drowsiness, fatigue, or dry mouth. IN CHILDREN, stomach pain or vomiting may occur. If Cetirizine side effects continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience Cetirizine side effects like yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine, or persistent fatigue. Cetirizine side effects are unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if Cetirizine side effects occur. Symptoms of Cetirizine side effects include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other Cetirizine side effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
The usual adult dose to treat seasonal or perennial allergy is 10 mg once daily (preferably taken at bedtime). Doses up to 20mg daily can be taken only after consultation with doctor.
Cetirizine may have minor or moderate influence on the patient's ability to drive and use machines. It may also potentiate the effects of alcohol and CNS depressants (such as sleeping tablets, antidepressants). Use cautiously with these drugs and do not take with alcohol. Also use cautiously if you have any of the following medical conditions: urinary retention, depression, mental disorders, sleep disturbance, seizure, prostate enlargement, kidney or liver disorder.
