Product Details

Ridaura (Auranofin) is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Ridaura is usually given when other medications have been tried unsuccessfully. It will not reverse any cartilage or joint damage that has already occurred in your body. Ridaura is a gold salt, and while the mechanism of how it works is not fully known, it is thought that by inhibiting certain proteins that can cause inflammation, leading to a reduction of pain and swelling. Gold salts are also known to decrease the inflammation of the joint lining, which can prevent destruction bone and cartilage.

Common side effects of Ridaura include mild stomach pain or nausea, gas or bloating, or loss of appetite. Contact your doctor if you notice any more serious side effects such as itching or skin rash, white patches or sores inside your mouth or on your lips, pain or swelling in your gums, severe or ongoing diarrhea, severe nausea, vomiting, or stomach cramps, pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding, blood in your urine, weakness or fainting, black, bloody, or tarry stools, coughing up blood, or vomit that looks like coffee grounds.
