Maxitrol Eye Information

Maxitrol eye Details (Brand and Generic)

Canada Pharmacy Online currently offers the brand Maxitrol Eye ointment and suspension from Canada and United Kingdom manufactured by Alcon. The generic version is not available.

Dosage

Maxitrol Eye is available in the strength of 3.5 gm ointment and 5 ml suspension.

Usage

Maxitrol Eye (Neomycin, Polymyxin B and Dexamethasone) is a prescription and combination antibiotic and steroid medicine used to treat eye inflammation where administration of an antibiotic is also required to prevent an eye infection. The active ingredients in Maxitrol eye drops include a steroid, dexamethasone and two antibiotics, neomycin sulphate and polymyxin B sulphate. Neomycin and Polymyxin B antibiotics work by stopping the growth of bacteria. The dexamethasone component is an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid that works by reducing swelling. This medication treats only bacterial eye infections. It does not work for other eye infections and may worsen them (e.g., infections caused by viruses, fungi, mycobacteria).
