Taking Action on High Drug
Costs
- Some States
Are Setting Up Processes for Citizens So They Can Acquire Low-Cost Drugs
From Canada -
The Nevada
State Board of Pharmacy, after a tie-breaking vote has decided to move
ahead with proposed regulations, allowing residents to purchase lower cost
prescription drugs from Canada! A public hearing will be held in April, to adopt the
regulations. The regulations will then go to the Legislative Commission
for final approval.
"We as staff feel the Canadian system is at least as
safe, if not
safer, than ours," board secretary Larry Pinson said before the vote.
It is fantastic
that the Board has moved forward and is standing up for those who can't
afford prescription drugs in the United
States. This will lead the way for more
States to stand up as well and place pressure on the federal government
for some long overdue changes.
The action
taken by Nevada is a
clear sign of how high and unaffordable the costs are in the United States. The efforts
exhausted by the State Board of Pharmacy in Nevada deserve to be commended as this
is a very vital and important step for their residents. It places huge
pressure on the federal government to fix the obvious drug access and cost
problems.
Nevada
would become the ninth state to set up a process by which citizens can
acquire Canadian drugs. Wisconsin has taken similar actions and has renewed
their drug programs with Canada for Wisconsin residents. Residents can access state
government Web sites that connect them to Canadian pharmacies. State
employees are also taking part in programs where they can buy their
medications from Canada - saving the state and
workers!
There is no
doubt why millions of U.S. citizens have been filling
their prescriptions from Online Canadian Pharmacies - it's safe,
convenient and affordable! Citizens are also realizing that the flawed
Medicare Part D prescription drug program is struggling and hurting more
people than it is helping:
M.C. Taylor, 79, who does not have insurance to help
pay for the five medications that he uses regularly, saves about $800
annually on blood-pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and other medications.
He has no plan to join the Medicare prescription program.
"I tell everyone to look into Canada," said
Taylor. "My doctors even recommend it, so
what does that tell you? I wouldn't sign up for one of these (Medicare)
plans. They're all messed up, they don't cover all the drugs you need, and
you have to pay a fee every month. It's ridiculous."

Are You Drinking
Enough Water?
A human can live without food for approximately one
month. Without water, the timeframe is considerably less - only
three to seven days.
Most
people have no idea how much water they should be drinking, and most
Americans live from day to day in a dehydrated state. They don't drink
enough water. One of the telling symptoms of dehydration is regular
constipation. Certain foods and drugs may also lead to increased
constipation. If this is the case, you may need to increase your water
intake. (You should also speak to your licensed health care provider about
other alternatives to relieve constipation.) Dehydration may also express
itself in other ways, like skin conditions, muscle and joint pain,
digestion issues, kidney stones, and more.
Water
makes up more than 75% of your brain, 80% of your blood and 70% of lean
muscle. Drinking water helps nearly every part of the human body
function. Water regulates body temperature, removes wastes, carries
much-needed oxygen and nutrients to our cells, helps lubricate our joints,
prevents chronic constipation, alleviates the burden on our
already-stressed kidneys and liver, helps reduce headaches and dizziness,
aids in digestion and dissolves vitamins, minerals and other nutrients so
we can utilize them better.
When
the body is not optimally hydrated, all the organs have to work harder and
the body tries to create fluids by doing things like breaking down muscle,
which isn't ideal. We need water to breathe; we lose water every day
through sweating - noticeable and unnoticeable - urinating, bowel
movements, and simply exhaling! Drink water - it's an easy recipe for good
health!

How much water
should you drink?
- Take your body weight in lbs. (e.g. 160 lbs)
- Divide by 2. (e.g. 80)
- Drink this much per day in ounces of water.
(e.g. 80 ounces of water, or approximately 10 tall
glasses)
* your water intake should be spread throughout
the day and evening*
