Letairis Information

Product Details

Letairis is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in adults. It works by preventing thickening of the blood vessels—particularly those within the lungs and heart. It can also lower blood pressure and help the heart pump more effectively.

The common side effects of Letairis include: anemia, swelling in the hands or feet, headache, stuffy nose or sinus pain, hot flashes, and redness in the face. It may also lower a man’s sperm count and affect fertility.

The more serious side effects may include:

• Chest pain
• Cough with foamy mucus
• Liver problems
• Low red blood cells
• Severe shortness of breath or wheezing
• Signs of allergic reaction
• Swelling or rapid weight gain

You should not take Letairis if you are allergic to Ambrisentan, or if you have idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) or ar pregnant or think you might become pregnant. Before you start taking Letairis, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you currently take including OTC and herbal medications.

This medication can cause serious harm and birth defects. You should not use this medication if you are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are nursing. Use at least 2 forms of birth control and expect to take pregnancy tests monthly while on this medication.

Precautions

Be sure to take Letairis exactly as your doctor describes for you. Follow all instructions that come with your medication.

Letairis can be taken with or without food but should always be taken at the same time of day, every day. Do no crush, chew, split, or break the tablet. Swallow whole with a full glass of water.

Store at room temperature away from heat, light, and moisture.

There can be interactions between Letairis and other medications. In particular, cyclosporine. Talk to your doctor before you use other medications while on Letairis.

To ensure this medication is right for you, be sure to tell your doctor if any of the following conditions apply to you:

• Anemia
• Liver disease

1. Is Letairis ever prescribed with other medications?
Answer: Yes, sometimes it is used with a medicine called tadalafil (Adcirca), for med who are suffering with erectile dysfunction as well as PAH.

2. Can I use this medication if I’m pregnant?
Answer: No. Letairis can cause serious birth defects and should not be taken while pregnant or if you may become pregnant. It is recommended two forms of birth control are used to prevent pregnancy—along with monthly testing to be sure.

3. What do I do if I forget a dose of Letairis?
Answer: Take the medicine as soon as you remember, but if it’s almost time for your next dose, do not double up. Just skip the missed dose and take the next one.
