Dosage

Xiidra comes as an ophthalmic solution (eye drops). It is sold in the strength of 5 %/0.2 ml single dose vials. It is packaged in 60 single-dose vials per pack.

Usage

Xiidra (Lifitegrast Ophthalmic Solution) is a prescription medication used to treat signs and symptoms of dry eye disease. Lifitegrast belongs to a new class of drugs, called lymphocyte function-associated antigen 1 (LFA-1) antagonist. Xiidra is approved to treat dry eye disease. It works by preventing the production of certain chemicals in the eye that leads to inflammation and dry eyes. Lifitegrast can cause your eyes to not produce enough tears, or to produce tears that do not have the correct consistency to keep your eyes healthy.

Side Effects

Get emergency medical help immediately if you have signs of an allergic reaction to Xiidra: hives, difficult breathing, and swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Stop using Xiidra immediately and let your doctor know if you have:
• Vision problems
• Severe eye redness or irritation

Common Xiidra side effects may include blurred vision, eye irritation, headache, increased tears, itchy eyes, red eyes, sensitivity to light, and unpleasant taste.

Warnings and Interactions

You should not take Xiidra if you are allergic to Lifitegrast or to any ingredients of the medication. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including prescription, OTC and herbal medications. Also tell them about any vitamins and supplements you take. There may be an interaction between Xiidra and other medications.
