Usage

Rescriptor (Delavirdine) is a prescription used with other antiretroviral medications to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a viral infection that causes acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDs), which destroys CD4 (T) cells, which are essential to the immune system. The active ingredient in Rescriptor is Delavirdine. Delavirdine belongs to the non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs) class. It works by preventing the reverse transcriptase from working properly, thereby reducing the amount of virus that HIV can produce. You should know that delavirdine is not a cure for HIV infection.

Before you start using Rescriptor, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• Diabetes mellitus;
• Hemophilia;
• Heart problems such as coronary artery disease, heart attack;
• Kidney problems;
• Liver problems, including hepatitis B or C virus infection

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Treatment with Rescriptor antiretroviral medication can lower the risk of passing HIV infection to your baby. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. There may be a drug interaction between Rescriptor and other drugs such as salmeterol, rifampin, triazolam, voriconazole, alfuzosin, phenytoin, ranolazine, sildenafil, and simvastatin.
