Usage

Dovobet (Calcipotriene/Betamethasone) is a prescription topical ointment used to treat scalp psoriasis and mild to moderate plaque psoriasis (psoriasis vulgaris). The active ingredients in Dovobet are Calcipotriene and Betamethasone. Dovobet is a combination medicine. The active ingredients are Calcipotriene and Betamethasone. Calcipotriene belongs to a class of drugs called vitamin D analogs. It works by modifying the rate of skin growth. By this mechanism, Dovobet ointment slows down the growth rate of the skin cells, stopping them from forming scaly and inflamed patches. Betamethasone belongs to a category of medicines called corticosteroids. It relieves the symptoms of psoriasis by activating natural substances in the skin to reduce swelling, itching, and redness. As a result, the ointment brings the rate of skin growth back to normal and reduces inflammation and itching associated with psoriasis.

The common side effects of Dovobet are skin irritation, acne formation, dry skin, stinging or burning sensation of the skin, swelling of the hair root, changes in skin color, and skin atrophy.
