Durezol Details (Brand and Generic)

CanadaPharmacyOnline.com currently has an inventory of the brand Durezol from Canada manufactured by Alcon. The generic Difluprednate is currently unavailable.

Dosage

Durezol is an ophthalmic emulsion (eye drops), it is supplied as a 0.05 % strength solution in 5mL.

Usage

Durezol (Difluprednate) is a prescription medication used to treat inflammation and eye pain caused by eye surgery. It can also be prescribed to treat anterior uveitis, a form of inflammation affecting the front part of the eye. Difluprednate is a topical corticosteroid. It works by preventing the release of certain substances in the body known to cause inflammation.

Side Effects

Common Durezol side effects include: eye itching or irritation, blurred vision, watery eyes, headache, feeling like something is in your eye, or sensitivity to light.

Inform your doctor immediately if you experience the following side effects:
• Signs of a new eye infection;
• Slow healing after the eye surgery;
• Sudden vision changes such as tunnel vision, or seeing halos around lights;
• Pain behind your eyes

The above information is a summary and may not contain all information. If you still have questions or concerns about side effects, you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist so they can address all your concerns.

Warnings and Interactions

You should not use Durezol ophthalmic if you are allergic to Difluprednate or to other corticosteroids or to any ingredients of the medication or if you have:
• Any type of eye infection (bacterial, fungal, herpes);
• Untreated glaucoma

Signs of Durezol allergy: difficulty breathing, hives (rash on your body), swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat—If you experience any of these symptoms, please call 911 or seek emergency medical care at the nearest emergency room (ER).

Before you start taking this medication, tell your doctor if you have had any of the following medical conditions:
• Cataracts;
• Glaucoma

This medication may cause blurred vision or may impair your reactions. Do not drive or perform any activity that requires alertness until you can do it safely. Talk to your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription drugs, over-the-counter products, and herbal supplements. There may be a drug interaction between Durezol and other medications. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Durezol is not recommended for use by children.

Use Durezol exactly as prescribed. Avoid wearing contact lenses while using Durezol. To apply the Durezol eye drops, wash your hands first. Then, tilt your head back slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to create a pocket. Look up and away, while squeezing a drop into the pocket. Be sure not to touch any part of the eye. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes with your head tipped down. Do not blink or open your eyes. Gently press your finger to the inside corner of the eye for one minute to keep the medication from draining into your tear duct. Wait 5 minutes between drops, if prescribed more than one drop per eye. Wait at least 10 minutes before using any other eye medication you have been prescribed. Call your doctor if you do not see any improvement after 2 days of treatment. Using this medication longer than 10 days might require you to take frequent vision tests to check the pressure inside your eyes. Store at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and light. Keep the lid tightly closed and do not freeze.
