Usage

Tasigna (Nilotinib) is a prescription medication used to treat a certain type of blood cancer, chronic myelogenous leukemia-CML (Philadelphia chromosome positive Ph). Tasigna contains an active ingredient called nilotinib, it belongs to a drug class called kinase inhibitors. It works by stopping or slowing the growth of cancer cells that have the Philadelphia chromosome.

Side Effects

The common Tasigna side effects are: constipation, diarrhea, fatigue, headache, joint or muscle aches or pain, nausea, night sweats, and tiredness. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any of the following serious side effects:

Do not drive or perform any activity that requires alertness until you can do it safely. This drug can also increase your risk of infection or bleeding. Do not receive any immunization or vaccination while taking Nilotinib. Do not break, chew, or open the capsule. Do not eat any food for at least 2 hours before or for 1 hour after taking your dose. Talk to your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, OTC, and herbal medications. Also tell them about any vitamins and supplements you take. There may be a drug interaction between Tasigna and other medications. Tasigna should not be used in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
