Banzel Information

Banzel Details (Brand and Generic)

CanadaPharmacyOnline.com currently offers the brand Banzel from Canada and the United Kingdom manufactured by Eisai. The generic version is not available. Our customers may also purchase other Antiepileptic Medications such as Keppra and Tegretol.

Dosage

Banzel is available in the strength of 100 mg, 200 mg, and 400 mg tablets.

Usage

Banzel (Rufinamide) is a prescription medication used to treat seizures and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (a severe form of epilepsy that begins during childhood and causes several types of seizures, behavioral disturbances, and developmental delays). The active ingredient in Banzel is Rufinamide. Rufinamide belongs to a class of medications called anticonvulsants. Rufinamide works by acting on the sodium channels in the brain that carry excessive electrical charges that may cause seizures.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Banzel are diplopia, dizziness, fatigue, headache, somnolence, nausea, and vomiting.

Stop using Banzel and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects such as:
• Loss of balance or coordination;
• Trouble walking;
• Worsening or increased seizures

Warnings and Interactions

Rufinamide comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken with water or food twice daily or according to your prescription. Take Rufinamide at around the exact times every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take Rufinamide precisely as directed by your doctor. Do not take more or less of it or more often than your doctor prescribes it. To reduce your risk of side effects, your doctor may direct you to start this medication at a low dose and gradually increase your dose. Antiepileptic drugs increase the risk of suicidal thoughts. Therefore, you should have regular contact or follow-up with your doctor to monitor you for the emergence or worsening of depression, suicidal thoughts or behavior, or any unusual changes in mood or behavior. It may take several weeks to reach the best dose for you and to get the full benefit from this medication. Reach your doctor if this medication does not work for your symptoms.

Before you start using Banzel, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• A genetic heart rhythm disorder called short QT syndrome;
• Depression, or suicidal thoughts or actions;
• Heart disease;
• Kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis);
• Liver disease

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding. There may be a drug interaction between Banzel and other drugs such as alprazolam, alprazolam, aripiprazole, carbamazepine, hydrocortisone, valproic acid, clopidogrel, clonidine, dexamethasone etc.
