Welchol is a medication with multiple purposes; this medication can be prescribed to individuals with high cholesterol and to those who have type 2 diabetes. To reduce cholesterol this medication works best when used in combination with a healthy diet and exercise. It works with bile acids in the body to decrease cholesterol levels in the blood. How it works to treat type 2 diabetes remains a mystery. It is available in 625 mg tablets.

Welchol Side effects

While taking Welchol you may experience adverse reaction, commons side effects include:
• Constipation
• Headaches
• Indigestion
• Sore throat
• Stomach discomfort
• Weakness

If you experience an allergic reaction seek immediate medication attention, signs of an allergic reaction are:
• Itching
• Rash, hives
• Severe dizziness or headache
• Severe stomach discomfort
• Swelling on the face
• Tightness in chest
• Troubles breathing
