Product Details

Skelaxin (Metaxalone) is a prescription medication that is used together with rest and physical therapy to treat skeletal muscle conditions such as muscle spasms, pain or injury. Metaxalone is a muscle relaxant. Skelaxin medications works by blocking nerve impulses or pain sensations in the brain. Skelaxin is taken by mouth with or without food usually three or four times a day as directed.

The common side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, upset stomach and vomiting. The serious side effects may include:
• Dark urine;
• Fast or pounding;
• Mental or mood changes;
• Signs of infection;
• Unusual tiredness;
• Yellowing eyes or skin

You should not take Skelaxin if you are allergic to Metaxalone or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. This medication may make you dizzy or drowsy. You should not drive or do activity that requires you to be alert until you are sure you can perform such activities safely. Avoid alcoholic beverages. The older adults may be more sensitive to the side effects of this medication especially dizziness, drowsiness or confusion. This medication should not be used only when it is clearly needed. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. There may be an interaction between Skelaxin and other medications such as codeine, hydrocodone, alcohol, marijuana, alprazolam, loraxzepam, carisoprodol, cyclobenazaprine, etc.
