Product Details

Maxzide (Triamterene and Hydrochlorothiazide) is a prescription medication that is for the treatment for hypertension and edema. This medication is a combination of Triamterene and Hydrochlorothiazide which are two water pills. Maxzide works by helping your body make more urine which helps your body get rid of extra salt and water. It also reduces extra fluid in the body that is caused by heart failure, liver disease, or kidney disease, which will help get rid of extra salt and water.

Maxzide Side Effects

The common side effects may include:
• Dizziness;
• Feeling tired or weak;
• Hard stools;
• Headache;
• Lightheadedness;
• Upset Stomach

Inform your doctor right away if you have any of these serious side effects:
• Decrease in vision;
• Eye pain;
• Fainting;
• Muscle cramps or weakness;
• Restlessness;
• Signs of kidney problems;
• Slow, fast or irregular heartbeat

You should not take Maxzide if you are allergic to Triamterene or hydrochlorothiazide or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal drugs. Maxzide may affect your blood sugar; your doctor may need to adjust your diabetes medication, exercise program or diet. This medication my make you more sensitive to the sun. Limit your time in the sun. You should avoid tanning booths and sunlamps. Maxzide should not be used during pregnancy as it may harm an unborn baby. It is unknown if triamterene passes into breast milk but it is unlikely to harm a nursing infant. There may be a drug interaction between Maxzide and other drugs such as dofetilide, lithium, spironolactone, amiloride, cyclosporine, etc.
